Loyola Marymount University’s
Film Outside the Frame

Annual Student Film Festival

One of LMU SFTV’s signature events we produced is the Film Outside the Frame annual student film festival help at Paramount. The event served as a student celebration, industry mixer, and engaged alumni and donors.

  • Created a branded theme each year for all elements of the event including posters, invitations, stand-up banners, step and repeat, lightcase posters, lower thirds, and on screen imagery. Produced printed program of the films with letter from the dean, student bios, stills, and loglines, and physical DVD with winning films along with swag to distribute at the event. Oversaw event and video team, photographer, and day-of logistics. Secured press coverage of notable alumni at the event in industry trades and LMU student newspaper.

  • Obtained permission to use student’s work in marketing for the school, incorporating into prospective student campaigns and marketing. Every year created a video holiday card that featured student work, and was sent to all alumni, students, staff, and industry partners.

  • Worked with alumni who were being honored on their reels and bios, and helped coordinate small alumni reception offsite after the event.

 Loyola Marymount University’s
The Hollywood Masters”

The Hollywood Masters is a Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film & Television student and alumni produced interview series that launched in 2014 and was distributed to Netflix. Worked on every aspect of this successful school initiative, representing LMU to industry luminaries, overseeing the receptions with guests, marketing & publicity, photography, student crew, behind-the-scenes materials, and booked Geena Davis and Norman Lear as guests. The Hollywood Reporter posted videos from each event on their website, driving significant traffic to SFTV’s YouTube and building SFTV’s brand.

“We are very proud of the success of ‘The Hollywood Masters’ program,” said Stephen Ujlaki, dean of the School of Film and Television. “Not only do our students get a chance to interact with these giants in the industry in an intimate campus setting, but it provides an incredible opportunity for our students and alumni to demonstrate their skills and expertise gaining real world experience running a professional production. While our students are excited to get such exclusive exposure to these artists, our collaboration with Netflix allows their work to be shared on a global stage.”

Conceptualized and produced the above video, then created a social version that we “boosted” on FB to promote the school, specifically highlighting the students’ involvement.

UC Riverside
50th Anniversary: Ed Talks

Produced the UCR School of Education’s 50th anniversary event at UCR Barbara & Art Culver Center featuring a series of “Ed Talks,” short, engaging talks from current faculty engaged in research areas of neuroscience, the history of education, equity and access, and STEM.

Recruited five faculty presenters, convened an Ed Talk panel which included our development director and public information officer, and held a series of rehearsals to provide feedback and prep faculty leading up to the event. Worked with tech and video team to record and edit final videos, which were featured in our annual report, on our website, newsletter, and more.

Have you ever looked at a puppy and had the urge to squeeze or even bite it? Or felt compelled to pinch a baby’s cheeks, albeit without a desire to harm it? Dr. Katherine Stavropoulos helps us understand what happens to the brain when individuals experience this phenomenon called “cute aggression.”

Land grant colleges are lauded for opening up access to higher education to more people, and have been referred to as “the people’s colleges.” But where did that “public” land come from? Dr. Margaret Nash argues that, as great as land grant colleges are, they also must be seen as part of the process of Western migration of (mostly) whites, and the appropriation of land from native peoples.
